(Who's 50) profile all 13 incarnations of the famous Time Lord, providing background information and fun facts about each. The authors--longtime fans who often speak about the TV show at fan conventions--include analyses of their favorite and least-liked episodes from each Doctor's era. They highlight the most influential companions who traveled with the Doctor as well as the most nefarious foes each incarnation faced. An appendix provides a handy guide listing all of the episode titles and companion names to date, as well as a list of recommended print and Internet resources. VERDICT Burk and Smith?'s casual conversational tone, humor, and extensive knowledge of the subject give the reader a sense of the passion the two, along with millions of other fans, have for this beloved sf series.
