The author has studied stress and healing in a variety of cultures and uses this knowledge to offer listeners both a rationale and a method for relaxing. With an astute grasp of behavioral and psychological principles, she offers relaxation advice that includes suggestions about nutrition, rest, and finding space to relax--both in one's head and in one's physical surroundings at home or outdoors. In the last three- quarters of the program the author guides the listener to progressively release tension to the sound of soothing music. The meditative, regressive elements in her suggestions make them comforting and calming. If used in the context of a variety of stress-relieving practices, this program could be a valuable tool for structuring quiet time when a guiding voice is needed to create a calmer state. T.W.
