The Pony Scouts series is full of all the rich details young horse lovers devour, from pony-centric plots to a "Pony Pointers" vocabulary page at the end of each book. Go camping with the Pony Scouts!

Author Catherine Hapka is a lifelong horse lover. She rides several times per week and keeps three horses on her small farm in Pennsylvania. If you're looking for horse books for girls 4-8, don't miss the Pony Scouts books.

PreS-Gr 2-The Pony Scouts are back, and heading out for a camping adventure. Friends Meg, Jill, and Annie are spending summer vacation with their ponies, and it is Meg's first time camping. She learns that camping at the state park is not about convenience, but more about working together, trail rides, taking care of the ponies, and making sure to come prepared with items like bug spray and flashlights. Meg's dad's failure to check through her things (as she has never been camping before) is a bit off-putting, but Jill's mom is prepared for all of the girls and their ponies, with extra supplies and camping experience. Warm hued, realistic illustrations, large-font text, and ample white space will assist beginning readers. "Pony Pointers" included in the back matter provide simple vocabulary and terms. Recommended for fans of "Pony Scouts" and horse enthusiasts alike.-Melissa Smith, Royal Oak Public Library, MI
