This classic deserves special treatment, and that's exactly what it gets from Frank Muller. An array of characters of many ages, accents and out-dated expressions is delivered believably and understandably for the '90's reader. Alec, who is stranded off the Spanish coast with the Black Stallion, is eventually rescued and trains the wild horse to be an outstanding racer. The entire story builds up to a horse race in which the Black is pitted against two national champions. Muller does a magnificent job with the narration of the race. Even those who have no knowledge of the sport will be enthralled. S.G.B. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
