Comerford, who blogs at A Busy Mom's Slow Cooker Adventures, is gluten intolerant, and her family isn't; accordingly, these 100-plus family-friendly recipes don't scream gluten free. They will help those with a diagnosis of gluten intolerance as well as cooks who simply want to cut down on their wheat intake to create enjoyable, healthy food. An introduction offering slow cooker tips and a lengthy pantry list of easy-to-find items is followed by chapters on breakfast, snacks, soups and chilis, main courses, side dishes, and desserts. The dishes, many of which are shown in full-page color photographs, each involve relatively few ingredients and steps, making them approachable to kitchen novices and those who are new to slow cooking. VERDICT A solid choice for those who want a broad range of easy, crowd-pleasing gluten-free dishes under their belt.--Henrietta Verma, formerly with Library Journal
